Resumo:
Based on the assumption that translation becomes a necessary tool to learn and exercise
meaning for other peoples and cultures, this work aims to use Translation as a didactic
resourse in the English Language class, as well as, the textual resource paratext, more
specifically film titles. Thus, we believe that the translation‟s Categories of Jakobson (2000)
– Interlingual, Intralingual and Intersemiotic may, together with the use of textual genres in
the classroom contribute to the development of the four language skills, as well as, provide
leaners a contact more contextualized and close to the language, respecting certain criteria
demystifying ideas about learning only by traditional methods. For this purpose, will be used
the approaches of theoriticians such as Carvalho & Pontes (2014) to discuss about
translation and teaching of foreign language, Jakobson (2000) showing the Categories of
Tranlation, Chesterman (1997) to describe Syntactic, Semantic and Pragmatic translation
strategies and finally Dolz, Noverraz e Schnewly (2011) to present the development of a
Didactic Sequence as a methodological proposal. Thus, the reflections on this work seek to
show that the teaching of languages does not only involve rules and methods, but rather, the
construction of the identity of each learner.
