O consumo indiscriminado de anfetaminas por universitários de Medicina: uma revisão de escopo.

Abstract

There is a major worldwide concern with medical scholars about drug use, especially the amphetamine class. The objective is to analyze the national and international literature on the indiscriminate use of psychoactive substances, especially amphetamines, by medical students from around the world. Being considered articles of the last 10 years (2009-2019), in Portuguese, English and Spanish, which correspond to the theme and questions of the research elaborated and are available for full reading. Exclusion as criteria: duplicate articles, with previous data metion: Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature (LILACS); Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO), PubMed and SCOPUS. After the critical evaluation, the results were organized in order to gather the information obtained and related to the objective of the work. We found 1296 articles matching the sum of all searches performed with the following Controlled Descriptors of Health Sciences (DeCS): "Medical Students", "Amphetamines", "Drug addiction", "University Students". After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, this amount can be reduced, resulting in 25 articles. Finally, after excluding duplicate articles and full reading in order to refine the sample according to the theme, 15 articles were chosen. It was evidenced a low level of knowledge among students about the consequences of its use and its indiscriminate use, highlighting the relevance of training students to cope with stress in order to reduce the risk of abuse. Therefore, there is a need for the creation of preventive measures such as the implementation of this subject in classes, as well as the distribution of teaching materials that increase students' knowledge about the deleterious effects of drug misuse in general, especially stimulants of the class. amphetamines such as methylphenidate.
