Resumo:
The palm forager is a cactus of Mexico, belonging to the genus Opuntia subgenus
opuntiae and Nopalea. It presente a broad spectrum of use and applications. It is
used as animal fodder, human food, and have medicinal properties and is host to
the cochineal-carmine is exploited for the station of the natural dye cochineal
carmine, widely used in food industry, cosmetics and medicine. This paper aims to
identify the impacte caused by cochineal carmine (Dactylopius opuntiae) to
(Opuntia ficus indica Mill.) Grown in West Cariri of Paraiba. Of the 17
municipalities that make up the West Cariri Paraiba, six of them presented
themselves as open área. determining the need for a sanitary barrier more
efficient in combating its spread to these áreas. There is need for dissemination
and guidanoe to local authorities and rural leaders in the importance of eradicating
this pest.
