Abstract:
This study aimed to evaluate the visual quality, physics, chemical and identiüication of fiingal
postharvest papaya in local disüibution CEAVA Patos - PB, the market-plane and
supermarkets Pombal - PB. The papaya were collected õom dure diHerent shops:
distribution, CEASA Patos - PB, supemlarket and üie market-placa, Pombas - PB in the
months ofmarch and april 201 0, then weK tmnsported to the labomtoíy where the experíinent
was installed. It was used a randomized complete blocks, the blocks were being set up by
days ofcollection, two âom each month, and the Ireatments, the shops. At each location and
day of collection was obtained ftom a sample of 15 fiuits hermaphrodites. Of this total ten
ftuits were used 6or analysis of postharvest quality and ave were used üor analysis
phytopathological. There was no diHerence in the ftuits of the three commercial
establishments on the chamcteristics of weight, flesh thickness, length longitudinal and
transverse, soluble solids, pH and intemal appearance. However was üound that the ftuit som
in CEASA contained higher total acidity, lower mtion SS/ A'll', are marketed more green,
have better extemal appeamnce and less than 1 0% incidente of disease. The papayas in the
6ree market and supemlarket have Pombal disease incidence mnging üom 20 to 50%, whose
