Résumé:
This study is an evaluation of the application of the model WESP (Watershed
Erosion Simulation Program) - a distribuited, event oriented, physically based model for
simulating the surface runoff and erosion. The model was applied to bare plots and
microbasins of the Experimental Basin of Sume, using the data collected during the
period of 1987 - 1991. The application of this model involved callibration of the
parameters and the verification of the nature their variation between the events. The main
parameters were evaluated in terms of their variations associated with a moisture index.
The application of the model as an instrument of quantification of the production
of overland flow and erosion was verified using the calibrated parameters of a bare
microbasin and applied to another located nearby. The results show that while the model
is quite satisfactory of application in a semi arid area the variation of the parameters of
the model need to be better understood.
