Resumo:
The cowpea is an important crop in Brazil, especially for the Northeast, yet the
factors that reduce its production are weeds. The objedive of the study was to
evaluate different periods of coexistence of cowpea with weeds in their productivity.
Has been used the cowpea cultivar BRS novaera. The experiment was conducted at
the São Gonçalo -PB, duãng the months of August and Odober 2010, the design
was 30 days after crop emergence, the early of cowpea is. delayed with ncrease the
culture of mexistence of weeds, the average length of pods, pod diameter, weight of
hundred seeds, grain yield per plant, grain yield, number of pods. per plant and
number of grains per pod were negatively affected when culture remains in presence
with the weeds. In general, the cultivation of cowpea is adversely affected by the
presence of weeds.
