Resumo:
The modal pipeline is the main form to production transportation of multiphase fluids, where the cylindrical ducts with circular cross section are used to link the producing regions to consumer centers. Increased oil production directs the interest in the oil industry to studies that deal with the increasing flow of fluids in transportation systems, using technologies that enable greater efficiency in these systems. In this sense, the objective of this work is to study the oil and water laminar flow in a pipeline with elliptical cross section, considering threedimensional and incompressible flow, no heat transfer, steady state regime with physicochemical properties through the numerical simulation. Results of pressure, velocity and volume fraction distribuitions of the phases in the flow for different aspect ratios of elliptic cylindrical duct are presented and analyzed. It has been found that when higher the aspect ratio of the a cylindrical duct with elliptical cross section, the lower the pressure loss in the duct.
