This paper has as its central point the report and reflection about a reading experience performed in the second year of High School class of a public school situated in Campina Grande-PB, with satirical texts “Quem sou eu” and “Pacotilha”, by Luiz Gama. Additionally, O cavalo que defecava dinheiro, by Leandro Gomes de Barros; “A vontade do falecido” and “Conversa de viajantes”, by Stanislaw Ponte Preta. Through this experience, it was sought to investigate the satirical poem and chronicle receptions of the authors already mentioned. In relation of the satire general aspects, it is based on the discussions of some theorists, such as Bakhtin (1981), Frye (1973), Propp (1993), D’Onofrio (1968) and Alves Marques (2014). These author’s studies also corroborate to the interpretative reading, which we made of the satirical poems and chronicles used in our classroom experience. The contribution of Studies of Reception Aesthetics from the discussions of Jauss (1994), Iser (1996) and Aguiar e Bordini (1988) was essential for the development of our work, especially with regard to student education as a reader. In order to report the classroom experience, we have guided in questions about literary reading, teaching enrolled by some official documents, as Orientações Curriculares Nacionais para o Ensino Médio (2006), the Referenciais Curriculares para o Ensino Médio da Paraíba (2006) and Base Nacional Comum Curricular do Ensino Médio (2018). Furthermore, to these documents, we are based on the debates of some scholars, such as Cosson (2016), Colomer (2007) and Pinheiro (2009). The data we achieved during our classroom time favored some discussions about literature teaching and reader training, considering that was possible to observe the methodology used in our classes has made the students could establish a relationship with the read texts. Therefore, the students began to attribute meaning of texts, interacting with the other classmate texts, through a shared reading work that takes into consideration the experiences of the subjects. The reception of texts also has confirmed the idea, which a reading work with satirical texts from authors who are not so contemplated in textbooks; it may become an alternative to awaken the young reader’s interest, promoting the criticality, and whet the pleasure of literary reading by the students.
