Resumo:
The high rates of gender violence in Brazil, especially violence originated from homophobia, has aroused interest in researching the subject, especially because the age group that suffers most from this violence is between 15 and 19 years old. In this way, this research chose the school as original locus of data collection, whose general objective was to evaluate the existence of Gender Violence in the school environment of three municipalities at Cariri of Paraiba. In addition, to mapping a diagnosis of the situation of violence in the Schools at Cariri of Paraiba; To verify the existence of School Plans to combat Homophobia in the schools at Cariri of Paraiba; To indicate if the performance of the Schools at Cariri of Paraiba in relation to Homophobia is in accordance with the legislation in force in the country; Identify the main problems faced by the School to implement actions and policies to combat Homophobia; And to identify the strategies used by schools to address this problem, along with the social agents that make up the school (direction, teachers and students), based on an exploratory research with a qualitative approach and use of questionnaire techniques, interview and Focal Group for data collection that were analyzed in light of the Theory of Social Representations as proposed by Moscovici (2013). The data indicated the lack of preparation of education professionals to work on gender issues in schools, as well as revealing the violent side of standardized and imposed behavior within the school.
