The cultivation and use of medicinal plants represent an important popular therapeutic resource that can be investigated through ethnobotanical studies as a means of rescuing the natural and cultural heritage. It also encourages the population to promote the proper use and better use of natural resources as an aid in the treatment of various diseases acting as complementary therapy. However, they should not be used indiscriminately because of the potential for causing adverse events and interfering with the healing process. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the cultivation and use of medicinal plants by the population of Cuiteense who is attended at UBS Ezequias Venâncio dos Santos in the city of Cuité / PB, describing the sociodemographic characteristics of users as well as the degree of knowledge about the preparations. natural. Identification and herborization of the plants found in the interviewees' yards was performed, characterizing an ethnobotanical study. This study was carried out from August to September 2019 and corresponds to a cross-sectional, qualitative and descriptive study, whose sample consisted of 85 patients using medicinal plants. The prevalence of females (84%) was observed among respondents. Sixteen species from 14 different botanical families were listed, the most common of which was the boldo (Peumus boldus) with 31.0%. Among the most reported parts for therapeutic preparation were the leaves (54%) followed by flowers (14%). Among the most frequent indications of medicinal preparations are diseases of the digestive and respiratory system. Thus, it was observed that the population of Cuiteense has great knowledge about medicinal plants and their therapeutic indications.
