Résumé:
Knowledge about the History of the Portuguese Language is essential in terms of
teaching and learning the concept of historical variation presented in a language.
This work aims to analyze how the textbook of the 6th year of Elementary School II
addresses the historical variation of the Portuguese language. From this, evidence
the historical process of formation of the Portuguese Language and propose didactic
approaches on the History of the Portuguese Language applicable in Elementary
School II. For this, we use a bibliographic methodology. The research was carried out
from the studies of Coutinho (2011), Assis (2011) and Bagno (2007). From the
analysis of the Didactic Book, we noticed an enrichment of knowledge arising from
studies of the origin of the Latin language, including the arrival of the Romans in the
Iberian Peninsula. These studies promote a discussion about the linguistic variations
that have appeared over time in that language, modifying it. Given this, it is observed
that it is necessary to search for other sources for teaching-learning, since the
approach presented by the Didactic Book is limited.
