Resumen:
The intensification of rural-city migration and the increase of population in urban areas, from the urbanization process, provided not only the increase of urban population, but also the disordered territorial expansion of cities, which contributed to aggravate social and environmental issues. This research aims to understand the socio-spatial dynamics of urban expansion of the city of Cajazeiras, with emphasis on Crystal Allotment, located in the North Zone of the city, and its socio-environmental problems. This allotment is located in a periurban area, whose rural lands were recently parceled and transformed into urbanized plots, and stands out for the rapid process of building popular housing, encouraged by the implementation of the Federal Government's Minha Casa Minha Vida (PMCMV) Program. . This process has generated social and environmental issues, which are faced by the population residing there. This research was based on theoretical references related to the capitalist production of space, based on the contributions of Santos (1998), Corrêa (1995; 1997), Carlos (2009; 2013), Bonduki (1997), Bevilaqua (2007), Carvalho. (2001), Rodrigues (2003), Ferrari Junior (2004) and Araújo (2017). Based on the dialectical perspective, it uses as methodological procedures: the documentary survey, the specific bibliographic review and the field study. Search Results they are presented using graphs, charts, tables, cartographic materials (maps and image charts) and photographs of the area searched, as well as Google Earth imagery. The results of the research show that the disorderly expansion of Crystal Allotment and its social and environmental issues were driven by the performance of real estate developers and developers in conjunction with the local government, as well as by the way the PMCMV was held and conducted, related to this. directly affecting the quality of life of the resident population.
