Abstract:
This research aims to build educational games as a tool for studying language variations. To meet this objective, we outline the following specific actions: discuss concepts of Variation Sociolinguistics with emphasis on lexical variation; discuss the importance of games for social and cognitive development emphasizing their use in education; Build games that emphasize linguistic variation as a way to exploit the richness of language. The research is based mainly on Labov's Variationist Sociolinguistics (2005). Regarding the type of research, it is considered bibliographic and applied and with a qualitative approach. As a result of the research, we built four Portuguese Games, one for each grade of elementary school II: the first is a memory game for the 6th grade, the second, a game of furadinha, this was assigned to the 7th grade, the third, a board game that targets the 8th grade, and the fourth, a clue game is intended for the 9th grade.
