Resumen:
In recent years there was an increase in the number of wind farms in Brazil
and worldwide. The growing presence of this source in the Brazilian energy matrix
contributes both to diversification and to the "cleaning" itself. The first wind turbine
was installed in Brazil in 1992, in Fernando de Noronha archipelago, since then the
number of wind farms in the country has only increased. The Brazil Northeast is the
region that has the largest number of wind farms in the deployment and operation
phases, se its location is considered favorable for the wind use to produce electricity.
Even presenting favorable environmentally features, the wind farms installation and
operation produce environmental impacts which must be identified, assessed,
mitigated and monitored. This paper consists of a literature review, where
methodologically the researches were conducted in scientific and technical paper
about wind energy and environmental impacts, in order to characterize the
production and use of wind energy in Brazil, as well as analyze its environmental
impacts.
