Resumo:
The development of livestock is on the pasture conditions , is of great
Importance to know the forage that best suit the conditions of each farm , taking into
account the climatic condltions of the region among other factors such as the
characteristics of forage you want cultivation , propagation methods , origin,
deployment techniques and methods manejo.Objetivou with this study to identify the
main forage grown in the municipality of Pombal , Paraíba . To gather data , we
used a questionnaire that was applied in the form of interviews with 67 farmers in
the municipality of Pombas -PB , between July 18 and August 15, 2013 . According
to the results obtained in this study the genera most frequently cited by farmers
interviewed were : schum Pennisetum purpureum ( elephant grass ) , Brachiaria
decumbens ( Brachiaria grass ) , Panicum maximum cv Jack ( Mombasa and
Tanzania ) , Cynodon sp . ( Tyfton ) . Regarding handling techniques to exploit the
productive potential of forage , it was observed that all the respondents make use
of fertilizers and irrigation. Animais are raised in the open for most of the producers
, with cutting period of forage performed at 45 days , with weed control using
herbicides . In what refers to vegetative propagation ( stems and seedlings ) and
origin of which come from the neighbors , stood out among the farmers interviewed
Which leads us to realize the pack of preparation in the implementation and
maintenance of pastures.
