Resumen:
The cowpea stands out among the annual crops in the Northeast
for their productive potential and nutritional value. One of the limiting factors for
its cultivation is weed interference. Aimed to evaluate the growth componente:
physiological and productivity of the cowpea crop .in . response,Jo different
practices for weed management. The study was conducted in the Science and
Technology Center of Agrifood Federal University of Campina Grande, CCTA / UFCG Campus de Pombas-PB. The experimental design was a randomized
complete block in a factorial 4 x 2 factorial, two cultivars (BRS Marataoã and
BRS Nightingale) and four managements weed (mechanical, .chemical, physical and uncontrolled). with four replications. The growth characteristics,
physiological and yield components were evaluated. Data were submitted to
analysis of variance by F (p g 0.05) test, and the averages compared by Tukey
test (p = 0.05). Growth characteristics were not affected by the competition
However. there was a drastic reduction in productivity of cultivated plants in the
forest, regardless of the cultivar. In 'Marataoã there was an average of 15.40
seeds per pod being superior to cultivate Nightingale.
