Abstract:
The hay is a good altemative to the use of jitirana ( Merremia
aegyptial.) lince this species forms denso population , has high crude protein content
and is quite palatable to animais. The hay should be performed when the planta have the
best combination of productivity and nutricional vague. During the dry season the small
producer is struggling to feed their herda , given that keep a herd of animais having to
buy feed that usually demand very high preces, some producers are required to sell some
of his flock . An altemative is the preparation of fodder plant hay during periods of ram
and can stock up and store food to ensure that feeding caule during the dry season . This
study aimed to evaluate the productivity and the nutritional value of jitirana planas (
Merremia aegyptia L. ) in semi-arid conditions. Fortnight]y samp]es from ]5 to 120
days ater planting were perfomled , analyzing the productivity of both the fresh matter
( kg / ha ) and dry matter ( kg / ha and% ) and crude protein (kg / ha and% ) , calcium
(kg / ha %) and phosphorus (kg / ha %). It was observed that with increasing
phenological stage , an increase in productivity of both natural materiais ( 1597.93 kg /
ha to 15 days to 30470.21 kg/ ha at 120 days) and dry weight( 93.00 kg/ ha to 15 days
to 4333.00 kg / ha to 120 days) . The crude protein content decreased with advancing
age cut- stabilizing at approximately 17 % CP between 75 and 120 days of age . The
phosphorus and calcium leveis remained constant in all periods . Based on crude protein
, calcium and phosphorus , haymaking of jitirana can be performed between 1 05 and
1 20 days after planting or early fruiting , the conditions of semi-arid northeastem Brazil.
