Heterocycles constitute the largest group of organic compounds and their history dates back to the early XVIII century, when they first appeared in organic compounds. Among the numerous classes of heterocyclic compounds, one that deserves special mention are triazoles, five-membered compounds that exhibit a variety of biological activities, acting as antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antituberculostatic, antiparasitic, antiviral, antiepileptic, inhibitor. of enzymes and sleep regulator. Thus, the objective of this work was the synthesis of the compound (1-benzyl-1H-1,2,3-triazol-4-yl) methanol and evaluation of its toxicological activity against Artemia salina Leach larvae. This compound (1-benzyl-1H-1,2,3-triazol-4-yl) methanol was obtained in 73% yield after 18 hours of reaction and was further characterized by infrared spectroscopy. The evaluation of toxicity against Artemia salina resulted in a lethal concentration between 1000 and 2000 ìg / mL, being classified as a low toxicity substance. This result was very promising because, due to the ease of preparation and because it is non-toxic to Artemia salina, it motivates experimental studies of its activities as well as its derivatives.
