Resumo:
The theme that addresses a recurring issue in the present day and of great importance, which requires due attention because it is something that contributes greatly to the development of the organization as well as the present study involved. The individual had the main objective, to identify the meaning of work for different age groups servers, placed in a public institution of higher education. Knowing the point of view of each employee on the way that the work may have for him, it is essential so that you can understand the way of acting and thinking of many of them, in front of some situations in organizations, situations these cannot be favorable the development of the company, but from the knowledge can be reversed in growth factors for the organization and for the individual. To this end, a case study was carried out, since the implementation of the research took place in a single organization, using it as a data collection instrument, the questionnaire, which was prepared by Morin (2001) and later adapted by Alberton (2008). Data were analyzed using statistical methods and means of obtaining a central tendency to allow for comparisons in between the answers, calculate the median was used by Microsoft Excel Software. However, the results indicate that the majority of respondents share the same idea on the subject, that for them the work that has meaning is the one that is done in ways that respect human values and, moreover, is developed in a respectful way in a safe and healthy environment.
