Resumo:
Environmental Education (EA) has been reaffirmed as an interdisciplinary activity in schools and in higher education institutions, in order to provide critical thinking regarding the interrelationships between society, education and the environment. Educational spaces are still neglected, so that there is a lack of understanding of students about the dimensions of the socio-environmental crisis in today's society. From this perspective, the present study consisted of analyzing the conceptions of students of the Degree in Biological Sciences of the Federal University of Campina Grande - Campus Cuité-PB, about Environmental Education. This work has the character of quantitative and qualitative data analysis, is characterized as an exploratory research. Fifty-two students participated in the Biological Sciences Degree course. As a research tool was used an online questionnaire of Google Forms platform released with the help of social networks and email. After data collection we performed the analyzes inspired by Bardin's (1977) content analysis tool. The results show that the higher education institution CES is contributing to the diffusion of knowledge about environmental education, through different activities, such as extension and institutional projects, events and short courses. From the testimonies it was possible to observe different views on AE, in large part there was a predominance of elements of a conservationist AE, supported by the behavioral change "awareness and sensitization", this view reduces the environment only to the physical and biological dimensions, because it does not It considers the interactions between nature and human culture, and we observe the emergence of conceptions of a critical and holistic EA, where we consider some participants to advance towards an integrated view of the environment.
