The effects caused by natural processes and by human activities on soil properties, particularly on the biological and biochemical attributes, are important tools for evaluation of the environmental impacts, serving as subsidies for implementing agronomic practices that promote maintenance and/or improved soir quality. In view of this, the objective was to evaluate the biological soil quality in use of systems in the Irrigated Perimeter of Sousa Floodplains - PB. To meet this purpose systems were collected soil samples occupied by coconut plantations, coconut and banana consortium. fallow and soir samples in a preserved área of environment, which is used as reference, in the depth 0-15 cm (PI) and 15-30cm (P2). Biological attributes and biochemical indicators of soil quality were assessed by microbiological activity quantified by soil respiration, microbial biomass carbon (C-BMS).and. metabolic quotient (qCO2). For soil respiration the highest values were in the 0 to 15 cm.(PI) and did not differ between depths in use fallow systems (PI) and legal reserve (RL). If there is separation between the coconut use systems with banana (CB) and coconut (C) of fallow systems (P) and Legal Reserve área that served as reference
(RL) to the depth 0-15'cm (PI) . The C-BMS showed higher values for depth 0-J5 cm and the systems of áreas cultivated with coconut. The highest value observed for (qCO2) was preserved for the system - legal reserve (RL) at a depth of 0-15 cm:.use systems in the Irrigated Perimeter of Sousa Floodplains - PB have biological quality.
