Abstract:
This dissertation seeks to unravel what led the hegemonic mainstream media to transform its narrative into the coverage of the demonstrations of June 2013. The main objective is to reconstruct this trajectory of the Jornal Nacional reports about the demonstrations in the city of São Paulo. Specifically seek to establish the narrative trajectory of the newspaper Jornal Nacional about the manifestations and identify how they build the social actors who
participated in these events. As well as analyze the characteristics that stand out from the
narrative of the manifestations made by the journalistic program. From a qualitative
methodological aspect, this research was developed by different means, but which correlate methodologically. The first one, of a documentary nature, sought to analyze videos that are available on the Jornal Nacional website itself. The second, concerning the bibliographic nature, sought to gather articles related to the central theme of the research, as well as concepts used by the Social Sciences to analyze the reality that was researched. Thus, we observed the application of the concept of circular circulation of information categorized by Pierre Bourdieu and the concept of society of spectacle, more precisely of spectacle, elaborated by Guy Debord. It was concluded in this research that the manifestations of June 2013 went through three stages that are distinguished, but also correlate. The first phase is seen a narrative based on the excessive use of police force and social non-acceptance about the protests that took place in São Paulo. This formed a circle of information where the whole cause of the demonstrations had so far been focused on violence. In the second phase, a show is constituted from the social acceptance of the demonstrations, as well as adherence to other agendas and at the same time a rejection by the presence of left parties in the demonstrations. Finally, the third phase consists of an evasion of people of the streets, as the revocation of the increase in public transport passages has been achieved and a perception of punctual
manifestations and distinct causes, the beginning of the end of the show and the end of
information about the demonstrations. Therefore, some factores made possible the
transformation of Jornal Nacional narrative, among which we highlight the production and
legimation of a truth about the demonstrations of june 2013.
