Resumo:
Organizational commitment can be evidenced as a psychological state characterized by the
connection between individual and organization, while the study of generations makes it
possible to understand the characteristics of individuals in the context-time variable. In this
sense, this article has the objective to identify relationships between the bases of
organizational commitment and the baby boomers generations, X and Y of technicaladministrative servers of the Centre of Science and Technology (CCT) and The Humanities
Centre (CH) of the Federal University of Campina Grande (UFCG). Characterized as a
descriptive research with a quantitative approach, the object of the study was the university
mentioned. It was used a questionnaire, as an instrument of research, containing the
Baseline Scale of Organizational Commitment Revised (EBACO-R) proposed by
Trigueiro-Fernandes et al (2016) and originally developed by Medeiros (2003). The sample
was collected for convenience, being of non-probabilistic type, having 42 interviewees. The
results show that there are conceptual similarity relations between the CO bases and the
baby boomers and X generations (having the affective basis as the best approximation). We
did not find an approximate assumption of the relationship between CO bases and
generation Y. Finally, it would be possible to construct management practices of CO
segmented by generations in the studied reality.
