Abstract:
On the importance of universities to society if made necessary a study on the management of what they work, knowledge. The library is considered the symbol of knowledge management, once literally carries out knowledge management in the form of books, manuscripts, documents and people, so it is important that this sector is reference to several studies in the area. The work aims to evaluate how the conversion of the knowledge generated and administered at the central library of the UFCG, on the campus of Campina Grande. With regard to the methodological aspects, if classic as quali-quantitative about his approach, as well as an exploratory study with descriptive character. First was sought profile of industry officials, in order to ascertain the existence of employees at end of career, as well as assess the knowledge conversion processes existing in the central library of the Federal University of Campina Grande, in accordance with the SECI model (Socialization, Externalization, Combination, Internalization), proposed by Nonaka and Takeuchi (1992), so that they were suggested improvements in these processes. Through this study was able to draw some conclusions about the effectiveness of knowledge management practices, carried out in the library, which in fact identified the lack of clear tools for dissemination, registration and control of transformation processes of knowledge. Besides the objective of this work is to create future concerns which can be addressed in relation to this theme.
