Pela vida das mulheres: o debate sobre a clandestinidade do aborto no Serviço Social.

Abstract

Considering the control over women's sexuality, the problems triggered by the criminalization of abortion and the current political scenario in which move conservative and religious groups against women's rights, as well as the Social Service's ethical-political project and the positioning of the profession for legalization, this research aimed to unveil and analyze critically the understanding of the UFCG Social Work students about the women's right to abortion. We also sought to learn how these have been related to social movements and the discussions promoted by the group CFESS / CRESS around defense for legalization, as well as the influence of the ethical-political project of the profession to think about the theme in question and, thus, also, to identify the possibility of interfering in the care of women when the demand involves abortion. Therefore, as a theoretical-methodological reference, historical materialism was used since it enables go beyond the level of the apparent and capture reality in its entirety, its movement and contradictions. Of a quantitative and qualitative nature, a bibliographic and field research based on the application of questionnaires and interviews with graduate students of Social Work at UFCG. THE investigation made it possible to identify that the majority has a positioning contrary to the legalization of abortion, starting from a religious perspective of defense of life. However, they have many contradictions in their statements that denote the conflict between the values ​​of the profession and those constructed over their personal trajectories. This fact poses challenges for professional training, as the need to deepen discussions on sexual rights and reproductive health, the socialization of norms that regulate the attendance to situations abortion procedures and documents that express the profession's position in the regarding the issue of abortion.
