Abstract:
The present work aims to problematize the precariousness of teaching work in the
contemporary university based on analyzes carried out at the UFCG, Sousa campus. To do so,
we seek to rescue the historical process of bourgeois reaction to the crisis of the 1970s and its
repercussion in Brazil, a peripheral country. We also make approximations with the
restructuring of the university and the impacts of this movement on the teaching work. In
order to realize the objective of this work, the study in question is conceived as a qualitative
exploratory research. The method used was the critic-dialectic, understanding that it gives us
greater theoretical support for the unveiling of the real in its multiple determinations,
transcending its phenomenal aspects. Thus, the study was developed through a bibliographical
review of several critical authors that approach the said topic, and counted on the
accomplishment of documentary research of several legislations, resolutions, among others
that reflect directly in the teaching work. In a second moment, we did field research whose
subjects were the teachers of the Social Work course. The data collection was done through a
semi-structured interview. The result of the research evidenced that the teaching work in said
institution follows the tendency of precarization imposed by the capital to the world of work
in its movement to increase its valorization. It was also evidenced that the restructuring of
higher education, the locus of teaching work, is the result of this dynamic.
