The environmental perception of an individual or community relates the manner in which the same or the same observing the environment. Such observation can generate or certain level of concern for environmental issues, once that occurs this concern, whether individual or collective, or even if it doesn't happen, it is important to work environmental education among stakeholders, which refers, not just awareness or respect for the environment, but also the actions individual or collective practice of working forms and ways that are related to conservation and preservation of the environment. Thus, environmental education is a practice that should be included in school curricula so that it may be worked in schools in all disciplines in order to clarify to the students and also the faculty which the real problematic situation in which the environment is, awakening the interest of the same decide to take a position with regard to such a situation. In the face of such importance to work with the environmental education in schools appeared to curiosity and the need to meet and compare the vision of students from public and private schools from elementary level regarding environmental perception, as well as its interests in collaborate with the preservation of the environment in all its context.The methods used in this research consisted in the application of questionnaires and lectures in order to meet the environmental perception of students and to present the importance of work environmental education at school. The results indicate that all respondents recognize that environmental education is a practice used to preserve the environment and that although most students from public have already participated in projects for environmental education while only a small portion of students of private network participated in such projects, the majority of respondents stated that they would like to work on environmental education in their schools. Such results were expected, because environmental issues are increasingly deserving attention and environmental education on the other hand, is a practice that arouses the interest of students, which, in a way, contributes to the formation of a new generation aware about environmental issues.
