Résumé:
As women are increasingly occupying social spaces, especially in Brazilian universities. In this scenario, several challenges faced by university students until the completion of higher education. Some of them get pregnant during school and need to reconcile motherhood with schooling. About this, the concern with the reality of the university students who face maternity is still little portrayed in studies. Thus, the need arose to investigate the factors that influence the permanence of undergraduate students in the Center of Education and Health of the Federal University of Campina Grande, after they become mothers. Whose objectives were: Discuss the permanence in the undergraduate courses; Build a social profile of student mothers at CES undergraduate degrees and Identify challenges for students to stay before and after becoming mothers at CES. To complete these objectives, questionnaires were conducted to know the social profile of the participants and also to conduct an individual interview to obtain information on the topic in question. The research was conducted with five students of the undergraduate courses (Biological and Chemical Sciences) in the day and night shifts and its analysis was made qualitatively, based on the categories of analysis of Bardin. Finally it was possible to realize that the students who reconcile motherhood with studies face several challenges to stay in the courses (difficulties to attend classes, tiredness, lack of time to study, etc.). However, there are several factors that contribute to its permanence including the motivation to want to provide a better future for his own child.
