Abstract:
Water is a natural and indispensable resource for all living things, and without it, life could not longer exist. The use of water has a paramount importance, because people uses it for many tasks such as industrial, agricultural, and consumption activities. For a better control of water quality is necessary to follow the established criteria from the Ministry of Health’ Consolidation Decree No. 5/2017 that rules the norms of water potability. Due to the great drought in the Northeastern Cariri region, people use water from dams for their agricultural and consumption activities. Besides, most people have no surveillance or professional help to guide them about the problems and dangers of low-quality water. The subject of this work is to analyze the physico-chemical parameters of water from rural zones of the city of Taperoá and Barra de Juazeirinho in the state of Paraíba by measurements of pH, electrical conductivity, hardness, turbidity, chlorides, and sodium and potassium concentrations.
