Repairers and maintenance of automotive vehicles are generating ventures a considerable volume of waste that are inherent to their activities in this sector, which are causing significant changes to the environment when improperly managed because during its activities are used products considered potentially polluters. The present monography aimed to perform an evaluation in relation to environmental problems, with regard to the generation, storage, collection, transportation, treatment and final disposal of solid waste generated through the activities developed in workshops of repair and maintenance of automotive vehicles in the town of Pombal-PB, in view of the considerable increase in automotive vehicle fleet in the city, and, consequently, an increase in demand for services of workshops of this segment. The assessment method was based on a survey of documentary and field information through the application of questionnaires, as well analysis of physical facilities of 13 visited workshops, which chosen randomly distributed in various districts of the city. The result of this study enabled us to glimpse the urgent need for specifications, regulations and environmental adequacy of repair and maintenance workshops of automotive vehicles in the city of Pombal-PB, as well as to an adequate management of solid waste generated, since in most cases present serious deficiencies.
