Resumo:
Financial education is the process by which the citizen improves his understanding of financial products, and its function is to create a basis for a healthy relationship between the individual and money in terms of financial control, indebtedness and investment. The present research has the objective of investigating and analyzing the financial behavior of the students of the Environmental Engineering course of the Federal University of Campina Grande (campus Pombal). The present research is classified as descriptive, survey, qualitative and quantitative. The research sample is composed of 126 students of the undergraduate course in Environmental Engineering. The data collection instrument used was a questionnaire composed of 19 questions related to the profile of the respondent, planning and control of personal finances, indebtedness and delinquency and investments. When observing the results it is possible to notice that the majority of the students manage to have some control of their financial actions, and few are the cases of debt with financial commitments. However, in relation to investments, the vast majority do not adopt this practice, which in a way can be worrisome, since the purpose of the investment is related to the idea of constructing a financial back up to the prevention of possible emergencies.
