Abstract:
The growth in consumption of fruits and vegetables due primarily to health care consumers is leading proportionally generation of organic solid waste. This type of pollutant waste is considered due to the ease of decomposition and being an environment suitable for the growth of microorganisms that can cause disease. The grocers of free markets are characterized by effective production of organic solid waste that are produced from the reception and organization of food in tents and / or discarded on the floor by market traders to final disposal inadequate surplus, causing many environmental problems. This completion of course work carried out a diagnosis of the amount of organic waste generated by the marketing of fruit and vegetables in the Public Market in the Municipality of Pombal – Paraiba State of Brazil. It was observed that there is an urgent need to manage implementation of measures of organic solid waste produced by fair dealers, as well as to improve the organization and the adoption of commercialization methods that seek to produce a minimum of waste, with the aim of improving the treatment and final disposal of them.
