Resumo:
The paper discusses the teaching of Geography in the early years of elementary school,
from the analysis of the "nature" category in school geographical content geography
discipline, using observation and questionnaires for both teachers and pupils. The
survey was conducted with students in the 5th year of two classes, the Elementary
School Dr. Jarismar Gongalves Melo, located in Ipaumirim, Ceara. The first chapter
theorizes the concept of landscape in the construction of geographical knowledge, but
also the landscape as an analytical tool. The second chapter covers the landscape in
education, entered the National Curricular Parameters (PCN's) and in textbooks. The
third and final chapter examines the concept of landscape in the search space, trying to
reflect the perceptions of teachers and students on the topic, from the analysis of the
observations and data collected in questionnaires. The research results show that the
landscape concept is underexplored in school subject contents Geography, at school
elementary school. Considering that teachers second observation made in the locus
seem to prioritize the teaching of Portuguese and mathematics. However, teachers and
students, research subjects, recognize, through the testimonies collected during the
investigation, the importance of geography and landscape concept in the early years of
elementary school.
