Resumen:
The excessive exposure to ultraviolet radiation can cause various harmful effects on human health. The objective of this work was to monitor the intensity of daily solar radiation UVA in the city of Pombal-PB, as well as relate the health problems of the population from exposure to ultraviolet radiation. The measurements were performed in the years of 2015 and 2016, in the city center that has a high concentration of people. We used a digital and portable equipment for the collection of UVA radiation data. The results indicated high levels of UVA radiation in the city, thus suggesting a relationship with cases of skin cancers and cataracts in the region. The values of UV index calculated reached considered extreme levels in seven months of the year, moreover, it were higher compared to the UVI CPTEC / INPE in much of the year.
