Cultura racional: da raiz da umbanda à negação da prática religiosa.

Abstract

This dissertation has as its theme the Rational Culture. It is a movement created in the 1930s in the city of Rio de Janeiro by a former holy father umbandista Jacintho Manoel Coelho. The Rational Culture despite having features of religious discourse, not assumed as a religion. Thus, to understand its peculiar connection with the Brazilian religious field will, through the concepts in the works of the Universe in Disenchantment, the trajectory of the ethnographic and Manoel do understand how to build the identity of the fan Rational Culture.
