Resumen:
With the growing population demand of the university town, the liquid effluent discharges
are increased in water bodies making it necessary effective treatment, to remove the
polluting organic load before being discarded. This work had to the objective of
presenting a proposal for a wastewater treatment system of the Federal University of
Campina Grande, Dovecote campus - PB. In developing the study the following steps
were taken: Detailed characterization of Campus Pombal / UFCG, current situation of
sanitation within the Campus de Pomball diagnosis of the possible environmental
impacts of the current sewage treatment system, mitigation measures and finally present
a treatment system that best suits local conditions under study. The methodology was
made necessary site visits, informal interviews photodocumentation the study site and
bibliographic research. From the results it was observed that the treatment system used
in the campus has flaws, necessitating the replacement of such a treatment procedure
The system proposed here was through anaerobic process with UASB followed by
activated sludge Conventional, the choice of the process was due to be a compact and
does not requere large áreas for deployment, and is also a low-post operating system
and features down time of hydraulic detention.
