Abstract:
INMETRO is a federal public entity responsible for some specific activities in the country,
represented in the state of Paraiba by the public agency called IMEQ/PB, with the objective of
providing information and inspection services in the interests of consumers. The goal of this
article is to analyze the notices of infraction perceived by IMEQ/PB in the city of Campina
Grande – PB, using a qualitative methodology based on documental analysis, obtaining
results based on the types of infractions registered, according to the category of items,
showing the reasons that led to the violation of the law, and stating that most companies are
not repeat offenders. Therefore, concluding that the activities carried out during the inspection
process are beneficial to the whole society, bringing fair competition between companies and
ensuring consumer confidence in the products and services exposed in the market.
