Resumen:
Changes in IT management stem from evolving technology and the need to improve
organizations' practices. In this theoretical essay, the new IT is represented by the use of
mobile devices known as the Bring your own device (BYOD) phenomenon. The aim of this
study is to analyze the sociotechnical factors associated with the use of BYOD in UFCG work
activities in light of the sociotechnical approach. The identification was guided by the subdimensions (technical and social) of Palvia et al., (2001). This article offers a theoretical
contribution by discussing still diffuse and scarce subjects in the literature. A practical
contribution is that understanding the technical and social perspectives that can help managers
understand and adapt to technological transformations and innovations such as the use of
BYOD and which can be implemented through good management practice techniques.
