Resumen:
The perspective and concept of Smart City (SC) arose from the need to create cities capable of withstanding
the growing urban demands responding it with integrated investments economically, socially and
environmentally sustainable, guaranteeing the quality of life for citizens. Thus, the objective of this research
was to analyze the main characteristics of a SC by the view of the inhabitants of Campina Grande city in
Brazil comparing the satisfaction level of these, concerning the items analyzed to include the city in the
Connected Smart Cities ranking. The research is of quantitative methodology and exploratory-descriptive.
The data collection was through an online questionnaire, applied in a sample of 395 inhabitants of Campina
Grande city. Data analysis was performed by IBM SPSS Statistics software using the Importance- Performance Analysis (IPA) Matrix, in order to verify the municipality inhabitant’s satisfaction related to
32 variables distributed in 12 dimensions of a SC. The results indicated inhabitant’s satisfaction gaps
regarding the items that classified the city as SC, providing 16 critical factors in which the municipal
government should prioritize actions. In addition, eight factors considered with good performance were
identified, and eight were identified as a low priority since the importance level granted by the resident is
lower. These results provide a managerial north for the public sector to maintain or increase the Connected
Smart Cities ranking position as well as the resident satisfaction and still confirms the theoretical
assumptions concern the items’ importance that evaluates the process of a city smartization.
