Abstract:
Diversity is increasingly present within our society, leading organizations to increasingly absorb
a diverse workforce. In the face of this new reality, management of diversity emerges, consisting
of a style of management where prejudice and discrimination are minimized to ensure an
egalitarian environment where women, blacks, the disabled and the elderly can have the same
opportunities for growth and development. In this sense the research had the objective of
analyzing diversity management in an information technology company through the HR policies of the Department of People and Management, identifying how these actions contribute to the
development of women, the black, disabled and elderly within the organization. This is a
descriptive study with a qualitative approach, using bibliographical and field research as
resources. As a research technique, a case study with semi-structured interview with the manager
of an Information Technology company located in Recife / PE was used. The results of the
analysis pointed out that the manager knows the importance of diversity management, its
concept, cited as a way to stimulate the teams contributing to the development of all, but adopts
diversity management based on the dissolution of differences. A style of diversity management
that makes women, blacks, the disabled and the elderly minorities present in the organization
and have little access to leadership and leadership positions.
