Abstract:
This research proposes to make a methodological discussion on the teaching of geography of
the country and the city, reflecting on the factors that lead teachers to use these spaces in their
traditional classes a methodology, based on memorization and reproduction of textbooks. To
achieve this goal, we promote an initial theoretical discussion about the methodology of
geography teaching in urban and rural areas, trying to analyze whether teachers of rural and
urban relate the content with the daily lives of students, ie, are taken into account the
specificity of the place as a methodology in geography lessons. Next, we promote an analysis
of the interference of teacher training in the methodology used in geography lessons from the
field and the city. To obtain the result in the present work, we rely on empirical research
conducted in two schools in the city of Aurora-CE is a school located in the field and another
in the city. That research was carried out with students of 7th and 8th grade of elementary
school school Notary Jose Pinto Quezado and Antonio Amancio Cross, and from the
observation of everyday school life, questionnaires were administered to students and teachers
of these two spaces, through which we seek to discuss the methodology of teaching
geography and interference of teacher training in the methodology, as well as fostering
discussions about the problems present in the teaching of geography.
