Resumen:
The present work aims to approach and discuss the imagetic-discursive construction of
history of the city of Santa Helena (Paraiba), from the episode of the passage of Lampiao and
his band and the murder of police chief Raimundo Luiz in 1927, when he
municipality was still the village "Canto de Feijao". The material under analysis does not indicate where
came and not even where the cangaceiros followed, but it presents some "stripulias"
committed by them in the village. The claim is not to address whether the fact existed or not, but
analyze the social memory in which these versions and speeches about the episode are constructed and
articulated and what is the relation of these speeches with the trajectory of cordelist poet Raimundo
Saint Helena, son of the murdered police chief. For that, we resorted to the analysis of
cordel of the poet Santa Helena, newspaper clippings and the short film: "Santa Helena em os cylinder phastasmas ".
