Abstract:
This character study of literature deals with the themes of geography teaching, having as
parameters the theoretical conceptions and practices in high school. The purpose of the study
focuses on seeking theoretical support on the issue at hand. Thus aims to analyze the
contribution of the relationship between theory and practice in relation to teaching geography
in elementary school, as well as to check how this relationship influences on student learning
in high school. From there, look for new strategies aimed at the social education in the
teaching of geography. Therefore, the study focuses on the thematic axis directed to the
topics: the teaching of geography and historical aspects, with the approaches in Brazil and
postures practices for the notions of learning in the school environment, inserting some
proposals experienced in teaching geography , as well as the current crisis in the area of
school education and basic basics with evidence and legal standards of the guidelines
forwarded by the National Council of Education and the paths to the teaching of geography
today. Therefore, we sought a literature authors that focus on the theme of teaching geography
in high school. Having highlighted as: Cassab (2006) IBGE (2001), Cavalcanti (2002 and
2003), Visentini (1987 and 2004), Moraes (1989), Oliveira (2003), Libaneo, (1992 and 2002),
Brazil (2001), Castrogiovanni (2007), Lacoste (1988), Brazil (1998), among others, to the
thematic study.
