Resumo:
In an attempt to know the conditions relevant to the health of a certain person or community, we found the need to direct attention to the understanding of the envelope that sustains its nature and partially insert itself, fitting
more precise, direct assessment and allowing the implementation of interventions that guarantee minimization of problems, in order to find possible solutions. With regard to this universe of social action, the study proposed here sought to build a profile of the standard of living; of the families living in the Santo Antonio Settlement using the data obtained by the project: water from rainwater catchment cisterns in the rural area of Cajazeiras - PB; indicators of potability, aspects of public health and quality of life, in the years 2007 and 2009, discussing health and quality of life indicators, for the identification and prevention of diseases, and referring them to this community in the Rural Zone of Cajazeiras - PB, in order to propose possible changes in these indicators. In an attempt to achieve the proposed objectives, we opted for a field / documentary study, with a quantitative approach. The population corresponded to 32 families in the Settlement where the survey was conducted. The sample analyzed was 10 families corresponding to the total number in loco by the extension project during its period of execution. As a data collection instrument, a script adapted to the semi-structured questionnaire was used, containing objective questions and subdivided into the categories: a) socioeconomic issues; b) questions about housing conditions; c) questions about accommodation and water and sewage treatment; d) community health issues. The collected data were analyzed Microsoft Excel, version 2007 office, through the frequency and percentage index, with representation through tables. The results were discussed in relation to the most frequent indices. In preparing a profile of the residents' standard of living, we sought to assess the environment and the interaction with it, where the participants are agents of their subsistence agriculture and raising animals for consumption, such as poultry, pigs and cattle, thus providing their survival. It is well known that partnerships involving public management,
university and community, for the organization of health, sustainable development and environmental preservation strategies, be present transforming their lives and guaranteeing a standard of quality and harmony between the countryside, work and their home.
