Abstract:
Paradoxically, despite the fact that the Northeast has the largest number of rural family farming enterprises among Brazilian regions, it is also the one that presents the establishments with the biggest and most serious management problems. Despite the considerable effort to develop management tools aimed at family farmers, until the moment of publication of this work, the scenario remains the same. This work provides a foundation that covers the main points about the family farming sector in the Northeast, especially rural associations. It also highlights a gap in the works on the subject which this research intends to fill. To this end, a face-to-face monitoring of the dynamics of internal management and production processes was carried out in an association located in the interior of Paraiba. It was obtained as results that it has serious management deficiencies and that need attention from the associates. Finally, some measures were proposed in order to mitigate the problems encountered.
