Teaching Sociology at Brazilian Basic Education has always been followed by challenges, either regarding to its validation and the amount of knowledge to be contemplate or regarding the graduation of the professionals that work at this area. All those challenges had marked specifics achievements to the Sociology teaching through the years and, even nowadays, they are still reason for discussions. During the past years with the reintroduction of this class on all levels of high school, the studies and researches about Sociology have grown on education field. The main goal of this capstone is to analyze the teachers’ perception regarding their own experiences on teaching Sociology and the validation process of this course on Basic Education in the schools located at this specific area called 5ª Regional Management of Education based in Cariri Paraibano region. Therefore, seeking to understand the connection between the teacher’s perception and their own graduation and how they analyze the importance of the Sociology on Basic Education. As the Sociology teaching is new and complex subject it was used the exploratory and explanatory research with a quantitative and qualitative approach through bibliographic analysis using questionnaires and interviews. Also, the arguments at this capstone were based on the following authors as Meucci (2002), Carvalho (2004), Silva (2007) e Moraes (2011) that have been cooperating with the institutionalization of the Sociology teaching on Basic Education. From this research it was verified what already happens in the whole country, the Sociology teaching at Cariri Paraibano area is very fragile, either regarding the absence of adequate professionals or the lack of dialogue among the professionals that already act at the schools around the area. This question is extremely complex and has not been properly studied which shows us that there are more to be studied, discussed and analyzed.
