Resumo:
The thematic reading in Youth and Adult Education emerged as a result of a discussion process with the teachers of the Municipal School of Infant and Elementary Education Antônia Lacerda Neto Educational Institute, located in the city of São José de Piranhas, Paraíba, with the objective of analyzing the reading process experienced at school. The present study has as main focus the reading in the Education of Youths and Adults (EJA), the processes of formal or non-formal learning, as a way to develop their capacities, enrich their knowledge and improve their technical or professional competences or redirect them in order to meet their own societal needs. Literacy for Young People and Adults was created with the aim of serving people of regular age who did not have the opportunity to study as a child. The school needs to prioritize the formation of a critical and creative reader. It is worth mentioning that an educational project with social and cultural democratization gives the school the role and responsibility of guaranteeing access to knowledge to all its students.
