Résumé:
Kidney failure is a disease where there is loss of kidney function slowly and gradwlly,
which can affect anyone and can be acute (ARF) or chronic (CRF) and is considered
an important public health problem. Among the renal replacement therapy the focus
is on hemodialysis, a treatment effective in controlling the disease allowing an
improvement in their lifestyle. This paper aims to present a literature about the
meaning of hemodialysis and the impact of this therapeutic modality in the lives of
renal patients and the caring support of family in the treatment process. We
performed a theoretical review relating manufacturers affection, and hemodialysis
patients, consulting books and journals available in libraries in the area. The results
show that the impact of disease and treatment is not only physical but also
psychological, social and emotional, providing positive dimensions (life) and negative
(limitations and suffering), and establishes a confrontation to happen for membership
and acceptance of therapy and new condition of existence. Showing affection to
family as a foundation and an important resource in this process of adaptation. It was
noticed that despite all the limitations and sufferings experienced by renal patients,
the possibility of a failsafe there prevails. We found through this study are numerous
changes in the daily patient who underwent renal therapy, and that they have
knowledge about the issue and are subject to daily stressful situations, and how
valuable is the participation of the family in the process of restructuring and
adaptation to new life. Referring us to appreciation of research in the acquisition of
new knowledge that can provide significant changes in the health field.
