Resumo:
Studies point out that hospital infections are the most frequent complications in the
ICU treatment. In this sector serious patients are concentrated, and generally, the association
disease and iatrogenic factors makes these patients more susceptible to the acquisition of
infections. Nursing and the group of health professionals who have the greatest contact with the
that is why their awareness of the practice of control and prevention measures
of hospital infection is extremely fundamental for quality care at
Cheers. The objective of this study was to identify the knowledge of professionals in
about the main risk factors for the emergence of infections
and describe the aspects and measures considered relevant in health care
nursing in an Intensive Care Unit of Hospital Regional de Sousa-PB. Was
carried out from an exploratory research, with a qualitative approach.
Four nurses and five nursing technicians participated in the research, through the application of
a subjective questionnaire, collected in June 2009. The responses were
categorized and analyzed using the Content Analysis method, proposed by
Bardin (1977). It was found that the professionals partially know the risk factors
for the emergence of hospital infection and know the importance of developing
adequately aseptic techniques while recognizing the existence of some faults
due to the lack of material resources, and also, the participating professionals demonstrate
contradictions as to the role of the CCIH in the constitution. For fun, we hope this research
contribute to a reflection of the professionals, not only nursing, but all of the nursing team
health, and that from this, other works are carried out, in order to raise awareness
professionals of the importance of measures for the prevention and control of
hospital environment.
