Menopause is the stage of biological life of the woman who represents the transition between
the player and not player, menopause marks a definite point in menopause which is the last
period after 12 months of its occurrence happening around 48 to 50 years. The vast majority
of women have some sort of sign or symptom during menopause, ranging from mild to very
intense depending on several factors. Signs and symptoms may be transient and not transient,
ranging from heat waves to episodes of tachycardia. Observe the growth of an aging
population and increasing life expectancy and in this environment is part of the woman in the
climacteric and menopause, so it became important to a study to examine the experience of
the climacteric women assisted to provide input for consideration of this assistance, in line
with the real needs of women in this phase of the cycle. It is known that the phase of the
climacteric and menopause is a stage of a woman's life accompanied by fears and anxieties in
the face of it the nurse has an important role in caring for these women. Thus, this study aims
to describe nursing care in guiding prevention of diseases and women's health during
menopause and menopause, knowing the conduct of nurses towards the disorders experienced
by women during menopause, and menopause, to identify the importance of nurse's role
regarding the prevention information about menopause and finally characterize the profile of
nurses in basic health units in the city of Joao Pessoa. As a methodology, we adopted an
exploratory study under the assumption of a qualitative methodology. The research was
conducted in the city of Joao Pessoa, which has 14 UBS. The sample consisted of 10 nurses
working in these units, and 4 of 14 nurses selected for the collection refused to participate.
Data collection occurred from November 2009 through a semi-structured questionnaire and
these data were analyzed according to content analysis technique recommended by Burdock
(2004). It is worth noting that the research followed the recommendations contained in
Resolution No. 196/96 C. N. S. The results showed that 60% of respondents have 20 to 30
years and 90% are female. The working time, 80% work less than a year and of these, 90% is
gazetted. This study also allowed us to understand, the professionals interviewed, voiced his
anxieties, insecurities, and flexibility on the issue. Another important factor is that
professionals are concerned with the attention to these women in their various aspects
biopsychosocial. Thus, it is worth emphasizing the need to give more focus to women who
experience menopause and menopause. The nursing staff will implement educational
activities, using as an artifact information and dialogue, thereby promoting quality of life for
these, women.
